New Forest Newborn Photography: A Relaxed Evening in the Forest
I don't think I'll ever get tired of photographing newborns in nature.
There's something about slowing everything down, wandering through the trees of the New Forest and letting families simply spend their time together that just feels peaceful.
A New Baby, a Big Sister and an Evening in the Forest
A few weeks ago I met this lovely family in the New Forest to celebrate the arrival of baby Reuben. At just four weeks old he was still wonderfully tiny, and his big sister Cece was settling into her new role with all the curiosity and excitement you would expect.
Making Newborn Photography Fun for Older Siblings
Whenever there are children involved I never expect them to stand still and smile at the camera, honestly that sounds pretty boring!
Instead we make the whole session fun and full of adventure.
Cece led the way through the forest, exploring paths, playing chase, showing us interesting and exciting things she had found, and the camera became an afterthought to her.
Capturing the Beautiful In-Between Moments
Those are always the best moments, the in-between ones that happen every day, and I love to capture them. Cuddles that weren't planned, smiles that stretch from ear to ear, the way they are running, the way they look at you.. I see it all.
A Relaxed Newborn Photography Session Without the Pressure
During our session there were feeds, nappy changes, lots of snuggles, and that's exactly how a newborn session should be. There was no stress or worrying about time, we simply paused whenever we needed to, soaked up the peaceful evening and carried on when everyone was ready.
Following the Light Through the New Forest
As the sun started to dip lower, the light became softer and everything started to slow down even more. It felt calm, relaxed, just a family spending time in the forest together.
The Moments Families Will Treasure Forever
When I got home and started looking through the photographs I just knew they would love them, its such a nice feeling.
Once their gallery was sent I got a message to say how much they loved them. This is one of my favourite parts of my job, knowing that these moments will be looked back on for years to come never gets old.
Creating Memories of Those Precious First Weeks
When Reuben is bigger he won't remember our evening in the forest, he won't remember being carried through the trees, and whispered to, and cuddled.
But one day he will see these photography.
He'll see ow tiny he was, how proud his family was, and how they all adored him.
He'll have a little piece of the beginning of his story to hold on to forever, and I think that's pretty special.
