As a Dorset newborn photographer, I love documenting families in the comfort of their own space. Rather than changing your home, I encourage you to embrace it exactly as it is. I’ll gently guide the session using the best light and simplest backgrounds, creating timeless images that still feel honest and personal to your family.

Natural light is at the heart of my newborn sessions. I’m always drawn to the gentle glow that pours through nursery windows or the soft light that fills a bedroom in the morning.

When I arrive, I’ll quietly walk through your home with you to find the areas with the loveliest light. We don’t need a huge amount of space often the most beautiful photographs happen beside a single window or in the cosiest corner of your home.

This natural approach keeps your images feeling soft, relaxed, and true to the atmosphere of those early newborn days.

The little details matter most

Your baby’s first days pass in such a blur, which is why I love capturing all the tiny details you never want to forget. The way their fingers curl around yours. Their sleepy stretches. The favourite blanket gifted by a grandparent. The nursery you spent months preparing.

My newborn photography in Dorset sessions are intentionally slow and unhurried, they can take up to 3 hours and there is no need for us to rush. There’s never any pressure for your baby to sleep, settle, or behave in a certain way. Feeding breaks, cuddles, and nappy changes are all part of the experience, and we simply follow your baby’s lead throughout.

I always encourage families to keep the house warm and cosy so everyone feels comfortable and relaxed. The more peaceful the environment feels, the more natural and connected your images will be.

Whether your baby is awake and curious or curled up asleep in your arms, I’ll gently capture the beauty in every stage of the session.

While you feed or settle your baby, I’ll quietly prepare and look for the best light in your home. I bring a small collection of soft, neutral blankets, and carefully chosen newborn outfits, all designed to keep the focus on your baby and your connection together.

The session will flow gently between natural portraits of your baby and relaxed family moments.. Cuddles on the bed, tiny kisses on the forehead, your baby resting peacefully in your arms. My aim is to document this season exactly as it feels, so when you look back at your photographs years from now, you remember not just how it looked, but how it felt to hold your baby in those first precious weeks.

And the best part? You never have to leave home. Everything you need is already around you, allowing you to fully relax and simply soak in these fleeting moments together.
