In June, I had the absolute pleasure of photographing Laura and Sam’s wedding at the beautiful Branksome Dene Room in Poole. Overlooking the beach, this venue is the perfect choice for couples dreaming of a relaxed, DIY-style beachfront wedding on the South Coast. With incredible sea views, thoughtful styling, and the most joyful atmosphere, and ice cream, their day was an absolute dream to photograph.

With views across the beach and the sound of the sea nearby, the ceremony felt relaxed, intimate, and full of summer joy. The venue’s simple, open space makes it such a perfect blank canvas for couples who want to add their own personal touch.
Laura had clearly put so much love into styling the day. One of my favourite details was the beautifully hand-painted shell name places, such a thoughtful nod to the seaside setting and a gorgeous detail to capture. Every element felt considered while still keeping that effortless, beachy feel.

From a photographer’s point of view, it makes such a difference when a wedding is well-organised but still relaxed and it allows the couple and their guests to fully enjoy the day.
Claire was amazing at keeping everything flowing seamlessly, while letting the atmosphere stay fun and informal, which really suited Laura and Sam perfectly.
A Fun, Laid-Back Reception by the Sea
Laura and Sam had my half day packaged booked, which was just the right amount of coverage for them. After the ceremony, the celebrations continued with drinks, music, and the most incredible relaxed atmosphere. A saxophonist played during the reception, adding such a fun, upbeat vibe and keeping everyone smiling. It was one of those weddings where laughter was constant and the energy never dropped.
For the wedding meal, Laura and Sam chose a BBQ, which was absolutely perfect for a summer beachfront wedding on the gorgeous south coast. Guests mingled, chatted, and enjoyed the sunshine, making the whole day feel more like a big celebration with friends and family than a formal event, exactly the kind of wedding I love to photograph.
