This May, I had the absolute pleasure of photographing Kirsten and Matt’s wedding at the stunning St George’s Tea Room in Winchester. Part of The Wykeham Arms, this unique venue has such a beautiful Mediterranean feel that it genuinely felt like we were photographing a wedding in Italy, right in the heart of Hampshire. From a heartfelt ceremony to relaxed portraits around Winchester, their day was full of warmth, love, and personality.
Matt is an old friend of my husbands, and so when he contacted me about capturing their day, I was so happy to hear from them.
A Romantic Ceremony at St George’s Tea Room, Winchester
Kirsten and Matt chose St George’s Tea Room for their ceremony, and it couldn’t have been a more perfect fit. The intimate space, soft colours, and European charm created a relaxed yet romantic atmosphere as they exchanged vows surrounded by their closest family and friends. One of the most special parts of the ceremony was having their dog included, which added such a personal and meaningful touch to the day. Capturing those emotional moments; the smiles, laughter, and quiet glances between them was an absolute joy.
Exploring Winchester for Family & Couple Photos
After the ceremony, we headed out into Winchester for family photos and couple portraits. Winchester is such a dream location for wedding photography, with its historic streets, character-filled buildings, and timeless feel. We kept things relaxed, taking a gentle walk through the city and stopping at a few beautiful spots along the way.
Kirsten and Matt were completely at ease together, which made their couple photos feel natural and effortless. These moments gave them a chance to slow down and enjoy being newly married, while also creating some really meaningful images that reflect their connection.
A Relaxed Reception at The Wykeham Arms
We then made our way back to St George’s Tea Room at The Wykeham Arms for the reception. The atmosphere was relaxed and joyful, with guests enjoying drinks, conversation, and celebrating Kirsten and Matt in such a beautiful setting. The combination of the Italian-inspired venue and the historic Winchester surroundings made it a perfect backdrop for capturing candid moments throughout the afternoon.
From emotional hugs to bursts of laughter, there were so many lovely moments that truly told the story of the day.
