The Gaggle of Geese wedding photography

There are some weddings that just feel like summer from the second you arrive, and Jonny and Briony’s wedding at The Gaggle of Geese was exactly that. Sunshine, festival vibes, outdoor celebrations and the kind of atmosphere where everyone completely relaxes and has the best time.

Tucked away in the Dorset countryside, The Gaggle of Geese is one of those venues that feels made for laid-back, fun weddings. With over four acres of gardens, shepherd huts, camping, a BBQ shack, wood-fired pizza oven, hog roasts, an ice cream parlour and even giant tipis, it really is the perfect spot for couples wanting something relaxed, personal and completely unforgettable.

Jonny and Briony made the most of every part of it.

As I arrived they were getting ready in the shepherd huts with their groomsmen and bridesmaids, everyone had slept there the night before and were all feeling so excited for the beautiful day ahead.

Their outdoor ceremony took place in the sunshine surrounded by family, friends and the most beautiful countryside backdrop. It felt incredibly relaxed, with guests chatting in the gardens, drinks flowing and everyone fully soaking up the warm summer weather. There was such a lovely energy all day; one of those weddings where you could tell people were genuinely just so happy to be there.

After the ceremony, everyone spilled out into the gardens for drinks, games and sunshine while the celebrations carried on. They had Andy Overton playing acoustic guitar and singing, which everyone adored. The whole day had this brilliant festival-style atmosphere that suited them perfectly. Nothing felt rushed or overly formal, just good vibes, good food, great music and lots of laughter.

As a Dorset wedding photographer, these are the kinds of weddings I absolutely love to capture because there are moments happening everywhere. Kids running around outside, guests sitting in the sun chatting for hours, spontaneous dancing, hugs, drinks being raised and so many genuine moments between people. It never felt staged, just completely natural and full of joy.

As the evening rolled around, the party really got started thanks to an incredible live band called The After Party. Andy Overton who had played earlier in the day is the lead singer, but now he had the rest of the band too. They were honestly amazing and had the dance floor packed from the very first song. The energy they brought was unreal, they really encourage guest interaction and had them singing along, dancing, jumping around and fully throwing themselves into the evening celebrations. It was impossible not to get caught up in it.

One of my favourite things about Jonny and Briony’s wedding was how true to them it felt. Every part of the day reflected exactly the kind of celebration they wanted; relaxed, fun, outdoorsy and completely centred around having the best time with their favourite people.

Summer weddings at The Gaggle of Geese really do have something special about them, and Jonny and Briony’s day was the perfect reminder that weddings don’t need to be overly complicated to be unforgettable. Give people sunshine, music, great food and a beautiful setting, and that’s pretty hard to beat.
